Katara Hills hosted the Sealine Running Challenge 2026 in an exceptional edition held for the first time within the Cultural Village’s trails. The event was organized by the Qatar Sports for All Federation in partnership with the Ministry of Sports and Youth and in collaboration with “Trails” sports events company.

Held last Saturday, the race saw strong participation from runners of both genders and all ages in a morning filled with energy and activity. The event is part of the Qatar Desert Running Series, which includes five major challenges held throughout the year: Al Zubarah, Fuwayrit, Sealine, Al Wakrah, and Al Khor.

Although Sealine races are traditionally associated with desert environments, this special edition offered a different experience, combining a safe and distinctive course with the scenic views of Katara.

Around 600 participants from various nationalities and age groups took part, competing across distances of 10 km, 5 km, and 3 km, in addition to a 800-meter kids’ race. The breakdown included 491 male runners and 103 female runners. The 10 km category featured 166 runners, while 205 competed in the 5 km race, and 172 in the 3 km category, reflecting strong turnout and diversity across all groups.

At the conclusion of the race, Abdullah Al-Dosari, Executive Director of the Qatar Sports for All Federation, alongside Abdulaziz Al Abdullah, Executive Director of “Trails,” honored the top three finishers in each category by awarding medals and prizes. All participants who completed the race were also recognized as part of efforts to encourage continued participation in future events and promote sports as a lifestyle.

Al-Dosari described hosting the Sealine Challenge in Katara for the first time as an important step in developing the community race series. He noted that the edition delivered an enjoyable atmosphere that encouraged competition and challenge among runners. He also expressed his satisfaction with the strong turnout across all categories, highlighting the family participation that reflects the growing sports culture in society.

He added that the quality of organization and engagement enhances the value of the race and strengthens its position year after year.

The Sealine Running Challenge is part of the Qatar Sports for All Federation’s efforts to promote healthy lifestyles and encourage community participation through year-round sporting events. This edition in Katara Hills offered runners a unique experience while preserving the spirit of the traditional Sealine challenge.
