Lusail International Circuit hosted the duathlon race organized by the Qatar Sports for All Federation, in partnership with the Ministry of Sports and Youth, in cooperation with QTRI Sports Club. The event comes amongst the efforts to promote physical activity and encourage a healthy lifestyle across the community.

The race, which started at 7:00 AM last Saturday, featured a vibrant sporting and family-friendly atmosphere, with wide participation from various ages and nationalities, including men, women, children, elderly members, and persons with disabilities. A total of 308 participants took part in the competition.

The duathlon consisted of three consecutive stages: a 5 km run, followed by 20 km of cycling, and concluding with a 2.5 km run. The race followed a continuous transition system between stages, adding excitement and a competitive spirit. Additional running events were also held for national service participants and persons with disabilities, allowing everyone to take part in a unique and inclusive sporting experience.

At the end of the race, Abdullah Al-Dosari, Executive Director of the Qatar Sports for All Federation, crowned the winners across various categories and distances with medals and prizes, and honored all participants in encouragement of continued engagement in sports and regular physical activity.

Al-Dosari explained that the duathlon aligns with the Ministry’s support for community sports initiatives led by QTRI Sports Club, which help expand the base of sports participants, particularly among Qatari youth, and encourage them to take part in new and diverse activities. This support includes financial, logistical, and media aspects. He added that the federation’s involvement reflects ongoing efforts to raise awareness about the importance of sports, noting the strong participation of seniors, children, and individuals with disabilities as an indication of growing awareness of sport’s role in improving quality of life and fostering social interaction.

He also announced plans to organize more distinctive events in the coming period in collaboration with partners, including innovative and diverse sports activities aimed at attracting a wider audience and making use of sports and tourism venues. He emphasized the importance of diversifying sports events to meet the aspirations of different community groups, reaffirming the federation’s commitment to launching new initiatives that offer varied sporting experiences suitable for all ages and interests.

The Executive Director concluded by affirming the federation’s continued efforts to organize a series of outstanding races and events—such as desert running races and community challenges—through its annual calendar of more than 850 tournaments and activities, in line with its mission to promote a culture of sports.
