The State of Qatar, represented by the Ministry of Sports and Youth in collaboration with the Qatar Red Crescent Society, celebrated International Youth Day, which falls on August 12th each year. The Ministry of Sports and Youth held a discussion session titled “From Click to Progress: Digital Pathways for Youth for Sustainable Development and Youth Leadership in Advancing Charitable and Humanitarian Work.” The session included participation from young volunteers with international experience in volunteering, charity, and humanitarian work. Additionally, youth centers joined in the celebration of International Youth Day by organizing discussion sessions and various workshops.

The workshop, held in the Sadfa Hall at the Ministry of Sports and Youth headquarters, highlighted the experiences and creativity of Qatari youth in volunteer work. During the discussions, they emphasized the need to attract both male and female youth to become partners in volunteer work, as youth volunteers contribute significantly to the prosperity of the country.

Participants in the discussion session included: Mr. Ahmed Ali Al-Khalifi from the Qatar Red Crescent Society, Mr. Magdy Attia from the Qatar Red Crescent Society, Mr. Abdulaziz Ahmed Murad from the Qatar Red Crescent Society, Mr. Hassan Al-Sharshani, a member of the Fazaa Shabab for Support team, and Ms. Mariam Youssef Al-Zadi, a member of the Fazaa Shabab for Support team.

His Excellency Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Thani, Minister of Sports and Youth, stated in his speech on the occasion of International Youth Day: “On International Youth Day, which falls on the 12th of August each year, we stand together to celebrate the capabilities of our youth, who are the hope of the future. This day symbolizes hope and renewal, and it is an opportunity to recall the role of youth in nation-building and the renaissance of nations. On this occasion, we renew our commitment to continuing efforts to empower Qatari youth, who are the beacon of hope and the driving force behind progress.” He added, “We call on everyone to unite in implementing policies aimed at helping youth overcome the challenges they face and encouraging them to make greater efforts to contribute effectively to the advancement of Qatari society.”

Mr. Ahmed Hamad Al-Shahwani, Deputy Head of the Tenth Disaster and Crisis Management Camp, stated that the Qatar Red Crescent Society, in cooperation with the Ministry of Sports and Youth, participated in the discussion session held at the ministry’s headquarters today. A number of Qatari volunteers spoke about their experience in volunteering and humanitarian work with the Qatar Red Crescent Society, alongside a large group of volunteers from other nationalities. He added that the discussion session highlighted the experiences of young volunteers and their passion for charitable work and providing assistance, calling for the recruitment of more youth into volunteer work due to its significant benefits for society and the country, hoping that all state entities will support volunteer work and encourage youth to participate.

Ms. Wadha Al-Wasmi, Head of the Fazaa Shabab Al-Adum team, said that the Ministry of Sports and Youth prepared for the celebration of International Youth Day in collaboration with the Qatar Red Crescent Society by holding a discussion session where ideas were exchanged, and many topics were discussed, in addition to exploring experiences in volunteering and charitable work in various countries. She emphasized that the Ministry of Sports and Youth consistently celebrates youth events, especially International Youth Day, and promotes humanitarian and charitable work among youth, graduating them as leaders to undertake these efforts.

Mr. Nasser Al-Jabri, Head of the Youth Work Organization and Development Department, confirmed that such sessions achieve many desired goals, including national goals related to realizing Qatar’s Vision 2030 and achieving the Ministry of Sports and Youth’s strategy of empowering youth and enhancing their capabilities in all fields. Internationally, these sessions demonstrate that Qatari youth share the aspirations and dreams of young people worldwide, striving for the advancement of humanity in line with the United Nations’ vision and sustainable development goals. He expressed his deep gratitude to those responsible for the Qatar Red Crescent Society for their active cooperation and partnership in elevating the value of volunteerism and humanitarian work among Qatari youth.
