The Ordinary General Assembly of Al-Kharaitiyat Sports Club, affiliated with the Ministry of Sports and Youth, announced today the appointment of His Excellency Sheikh Khalifa bin Thamer Al Thani as the honorary president of the club. This follows the election of His Excellency Sheikh Ahmed bin Thamer Al Thani as the club’s president and Mr. Jamal Abdullah Al-Shamlan as his deputy for the term 2024-2028.

His Excellency Sheikh Ahmed bin Thamer Al Thani, the club’s president, stated that the appointment of Sheikh Khalifa bin Thamer Al Thani as honorary president of the club was a decision made in recognition of the significant efforts he has made during the terms he presided over Al-Kharaitiyat Club. He achieved many successes and bore many work pressures, including the development of the club’s facilities, contracts with professional and local players, and addressing the issues of all teams throughout the seasons, despite the lack of financial resources, at the expense of his time and health.

For his part, His Excellency Sheikh Khalifa bin Thamer Al Thani affirmed that he would not abandon the club under any circumstances and would remain close to the management, supporting with his ideas, proposals, and experiences, and assisting everyone. He noted that Al-Kharaitiyat Club and second-division clubs generally receive financial support that does not sufficiently enhance the competitive aspect compared to first-division clubs, emphasizing that the gap remains wide between the second and first divisions.

He thanked the members of the General Assembly for their keenness to attend the meeting and express their opinions and suggestions, noting that Al-Kharaitiyat Club is always open to all members.
