Today, the general assembly meeting of Al-Wakrah Club was held at the meeting hall in the Club’s headquarters, with the required quorum of 20 members out of the total 30 eligible to attend. The discussions were enthusiastic and headed by Salman Abdullah Abdulghani, the Vice President of the Club, and attended by Abdul Hadi Khamees, the General Manager of the Club, in addition to a representative from the Ministry of Sports and Youth.

Optimism prevailed during the general assembly meeting, given the great achievements of the Club’s teams in all sports, especially the football and handball teams, which won the Qatar Cup championship.

Salman Abdullah Abdulghani welcomed all the members and thanked them for their interest in attending the Club’s assembly, speaking on his behalf and on behalf of Sheikh Khalifa bin Hassan Al-Thani, the President of the Club. Then, Abdul Hadi Khamees, the General Manager, commenced the meeting by approving the minutes of the previous general assembly meeting and discussing the Club president’s report on the Club’s activities in the past year, as well as the program and action plan for the new year, and the approval of the financial statement for the fiscal year 2022/2023.

All members appreciated the significant efforts made by the board of directors in the recent period, which resulted in many successes for all the Club’s teams. The meeting gained intensity as the heads of departments called for increased support for various sports and requested the activation of multiple items to enhance this support, either through the Club or through negotiations with various sponsors to support the Club’s teams. They stated that the current financial allocations are not sufficient to maintain their leading position and compete for titles.
