In partnership with the Ministry of Sports and Youth, the quarter-final matches of the 15th edition of the Furjan Fields Football Championship will kick off this evening. The tournament is organized by the Qatar Sports for All Federation and features four decisive matches at the Ain Khaled Furjan Fields.
The quarter-final action begins with a match between Al Wakrah and Al Nasr at 5:45 p.m., followed by the clash between Al Jasra and Al Wukair at 6:25 p.m.. The third match, scheduled for 7:00 p.m., will see Al Raheeb take on Al Shaqab, while the final quarter-final fixture of the evening will bring together Al Kheesa and Al Luwaina at 7:40 p.m.
The final round of group-stage matches, held on Monday, featured several competitive encounters following three rounds of action-packed competition. Al Luwaina secured a convincing 4–0 victory over Al Aziziyah, while Al Jasra defeated Umm Qarn 3–0. Al Raheeb recorded an identical 3–0 win against Al Ruwais, and Al Hilal overcame Al Nasr by two goals to nil.
In the previous round of group-stage fixtures, held on Sunday, Al Wukair defeated Al Shamal 3–0, Al Kheesa overcame Sharq 3–1, and Al Wakrah edged past Al Shaqab with a 1–0 victory. Meanwhile, Madinat Khalifa earned a comfortable 3–0 win over Shabab Al Nasr.
Mr. Abdullah Al Dosari, Executive Director of the Qatar Sports for All Federation, stated that hosting the tournament at the Ain Khaled field for the first time has created a distinctive atmosphere for this edition and represents a valuable addition to the Furjan Fields Championship series. He emphasized the important role these tournaments play in promoting sports participation and raising awareness of the benefits of physical activity within the community.
Al Dosari noted that the strong turnout and competitive spirit among the participating teams, composed of amateur players aged 16 and above, reflect the enduring popularity of football and highlight the success of the network of eighteen Furjan Fields located across the country. These facilities provide an attractive environment for community participation through tournaments representing different neighborhoods and districts.
He added that the Furjan Fields continue to serve as open sporting destinations that encourage daily physical activity, whether through walking, recreational use, or football matches. The facilities also form an important part of the Federation’s annual sports calendar, helping sustain year-round sporting activity and providing football enthusiasts with regular opportunities to compete and engage in the game.
