Under the umbrella of the Ministry of Sports and Youth, the Friends of the Environment Center took part in the National Beach Cleanup Campaign, organized by the Ministry of Municipality in cooperation with the Seashore Group, as part of the activities commemorating World Cleanup Day.

The initiative witnessed broad participation from volunteers and supporting entities and embodied the spirit of teamwork and shared responsibility in preserving the marine environment. Participants emphasized that the campaign carries an important awareness message aimed at reinforcing the principle that “the sea is not a trash bin”, and encouraging the community to adopt environmentally friendly practices.

In this context, Mr. Fahad Abdullah Malik, Director of Public Relations and Communications at the Friends of the Environment Center, stated:

“Our participation in this campaign stems from our responsibility to raise youth awareness about the importance of protecting our beaches and keeping our local environment clean. Volunteer initiatives reflect a growing societal awareness and affirm that protecting the environment is a shared responsibility that contributes to sustainability for future generations.”

He further pointed out that this participation is part of the ongoing efforts of the Friends of the Environment Center to promote environmental awareness, strengthen community partnerships, and foster cooperation among various state institutions to protect beaches and natural resources. This aligns with Qatar National Vision 2030, particularly its fourth pillar, which aims to strike a precise balance between economic growth and environmental preservation.

He noted that the Center keeps this pillar at the forefront of all its plans and activities, which aim to achieve sustainable development, protect local environmental components, and safeguard biodiversity.
