The Friends of the Environment Center, affiliated with the Ministry of Sports and Youth, is organizing a rich summer program during the current month of July and the upcoming August. The program includes various educational events, activities, and trips, both on land and sea, targeting a large sector of youth aged 15 to 18 and above.

The program aims to raise awareness among the youth about the local environment and introduce them to important ways of preserving it. It incorporates several workshops to train participants in farming techniques, recycling, simple handicraft industries, and educational trips.

The activities started with a workshop titled “Creative Ideas from Excess Fabrics” held at the center’s headquarters, attended by a significant number of girls aged 15 and above. During the workshop, the girls learned how to make use of fabrics to create useful items for the home, such as tablecloths and home decorations.

Furthermore, the center is organizing a workshop on Tuesday, 11 July, exclusively for the same group of girls, titled “Explore My Plant’s Impact.” This workshop aims to educate the participants about the importance of home gardening, enriching home gardens with various beneficial plants, and how to care for the plants. Continuing the July program, the center is arranging a land trip on Wednesday, 14  July, called “Explore the Wilderness,” in the Ali Alhanzab Reserve for Youth. The trip aims to introduce participants to the plants and wildlife in Qatar, their impact on enriching the local environment, and their role in preserving the food chain and the organisms relying on these plants.

Additionally, the Friends of the Environment Center is organizing a workshop titled “Explore My Creativity from Old Items – Cloth Dolls” for girls on Monday, 17 July 2023, at the center’s headquarters. The workshop focuses on training the girls in handicrafts and the importance of recycling old items at home to create useful objects. Following that, on Tuesday, 18 July 2023, there will be another workshop titled “Explore My Impact on My Plant – From Seed to Fruit,” where girls will be trained in the best home gardening practices. The workshop will introduce the girls to important plants suitable for home gardens and provide fresh and healthy vegetables and fruits. The center will also organize a sea trip for youth on Wednesday, 19  July 2023, to Qatar’s beaches. This trip aims to raise awareness about the importance of conserving marine life, introduce the biodiversity in Qatar, and highlight the State’s efforts to enrich and preserve marine organisms.
