The Friends of the Environment Center (FEC), affiliated with the Ministry of Sports and Youth, concluded the activities of its “Sustainability Summer 2026” program after a month filled with learning, innovation, and hands-on experiences that helped strengthen environmental awareness and promote sustainability concepts among children and youth. The specialized program ran from July 01 to July 29, 2026.

A total of 93 school students participated in the program, which featured eight specialized workshops addressing a range of environmental and sustainability topics, in addition to six field visits that gave participants firsthand insight into practical initiatives and Qatar’s national efforts in environmental protection.

The Center also expanded its partnerships to include 21 government, national, and private-sector organizations, while 19 male and female volunteers contributed to organizing and implementing the program’s activities, reflecting its success in promoting a culture of volunteerism and strengthening community partnerships in support of environmental causes.

In his remarks during the closing ceremony, Dr. Farhoud HadiAl Hajri, Executive Director of the Friends of the Environment Center, said that “Sustainability Summer 2026” embodies the Center’s vision of investing in people as the cornerstone of sustainable development. He noted that the Center was committed to delivering a comprehensive summer experience that went beyond traditional seasonal activities, transforming the program into an educational journey that fosters environmental awareness, strengthens participants’ sense of responsibility, and prepares children and youth to become active partners in protecting the environment and preserving its natural resources.

He added that the program was designed to provide participants with opportunities to learn, explore, and experiment through a combination of interactive workshops, field visits, scientific activities, and volunteer initiatives, helping connect environmental concepts with everyday practices and transform knowledge into sustainable behaviors that positively benefit both society and the environment.

The closing ceremony was attended by Mr. Jaber Hassan Al Jaber, Director General of Al Wakrah Municipality at the Ministry of Municipality; Mr. Faisal Ibrahim, Head of the Youth Centers and Organizations Section at the Ministry of Sports and Youth; as well as representatives of government entities, strategic partners, sponsors, parents, volunteers, and participants.

The ceremony featured a documentary highlighting the program’s key milestones, activities, and achievements, while also showcasing the experiences of several participants, who spoke about the significant benefits they gained from the program’s activities in developing their skills, expanding their environmental knowledge, and acquiring practical experience that will have a positive impact on their future.

At the conclusion of the ceremony, the Friends of the Environment Center honored sponsors, strategic partners, volunteers, and participants in recognition of their valuable contributions to the program’s success. The Center emphasized that this recognition reflects its commitment to fostering a culture of community partnership and teamwork while continuing to launch high-impact initiatives that prepare generations equipped with environmental knowledge, committed to sustainability, and capable of contributing effectively to environmental protection and advancing the goals of Qatar National Vision in this field.
