Under the auspices of the Ministry of Sports and Youth, the Friends of the Environment Center, in collaboration with Qatar Red Crescent, concluded the workshop titled “First Aid and Climate Change,” organized by the Center in observance of World First Aid Day 2025.
The workshop, which saw strong engagement from participants, was attended by several members and staff of the Friends of the Environment Center. Attendees gained practical skills in handling emergency situations, in addition to learning about the growing link between climate change and the increasing need for preparedness and rapid response in the face of disasters and crises.
In this context, Ms. Zainab Al-Shammari, Head of Events and Programs at the Friends of the Environment Center, emphasized that organizing this workshop reflects the Center’s commitment to raising community awareness—not only in the field of environmental protection but also in public health and safety amid climate change challenges. Al-Shammari added:
“We believe that environmental and health awareness are two sides of the same coin. With the increasing impacts of climate change, it is essential that community members are equipped with the necessary skills to provide assistance in emergency situations.”
She noted the positive interaction from participants, which underscores the importance of integrating first aid concepts with contemporary environmental challenges like climate change—contributing to building a more prepared and sustainable society.
She further explained that participants acquired hands-on skills for emergency response and developed an understanding of the connection between climate change and the rising need for preparedness, given its impact on public health.
This initiative falls within the ongoing efforts of the Friends of the Environment Center to strengthen community partnerships and promote a culture of environmental and health awareness, in line with the goals of sustainable development and Qatar National Vision 2030.
