Fitness Championship under the Umbrella of the Ministry of Sports and Youth
Under the auspices of the Ministry of Sports and Youth, and organized by the Qatar Sports for All Federation, the Sports for All Fitness Championship was held in collaboration with the Public Authority for Minors Affairs at Al Rayyan Park on Friday afternoon. The competition attracted a significant turnout and intense competition from various age groups, with 60 participants ranging from 7 to 17 years old, from both genders.
The competition consisted of three events: the strength challenge, which involved throwing a 5 kg ball within a designated area, the speed challenge, which covered a 100-meter distance, and the endurance challenge, which required participants to perform the “plank” exercise for the longest time possible. After the competitions concluded, the top three winners were awarded prizes, including medals and other incentives. All participants were also honored to encourage them to continue practicing sports regularly.
Mr. Abdullah Al-Dosari, Director of the Federation, stated that the championship represents an important step and a good start for joint cooperation with the Public Authority for Minors Affairs through the agreement signed between the two parties. This initiative is part of the social responsibility framework of the Sports for All Federation, which is the executive arm of the Ministry of Sports and Youth in organizing community sports activities. The goal is to involve as many members of the community as possible, including those affiliated with the Authority, and to raise awareness about the importance of physical activity across society.
Al-Dosari pointed out that the launch of this championship aims to encourage youth and children to participate in sports and to increase the number of people engaging in physical activity through the “365 Days of Activity” program. This program, organized by the Sports for All Federation, offers free daily activities in public parks throughout the year for both men and women, with a focus on specific areas for women. This program is one of the key components that ensure the sustainability of community sports activities, as it runs every day of the year.
Al-Dosari also emphasized that the Sports for All Federation supports the participation of various organizations in the country as part of its annual calendar of activities, which includes approximately 750 events this year. These events encompass a wide range of sports and community activities that cater to the aspirations of the community and contribute to expanding the base of sports participants among all segments of society. He noted that the Sports for All events offer an excellent opportunity for all age groups and genders—men, women, the elderly, youth, and children—to engage in sports through a variety of activities, including football, tennis, volleyball, shooting, running, marathons, padel, swimming, equestrian sports, chess, fitness competitions, and martial arts, with a particular focus on Muay Thai, among others.
