A new edition of the Fitness Championship was held on the green lawns of Al Rayyan Park on Saturday afternoon, with the partnership of the Ministry of Sports and Youth and organized by the Qatar Sports for All Federation, with a distinctive participation from various age groups. The competitions took place in wonderful winter weather and aimed to reinforce awareness of the importance of physical activity and its role in improving quality of life, positively enhancing mood, and encouraging simple sports activities away from work pressures and daily life demands. The championship also sought to strengthen the culture of sports participation and promote it among all segments of society through diverse sports programs that meet individuals’ aspirations, help bring balance to their daily lives, and contribute to developing their physical skills.

The training sessions, supervised by a select group of specialized coaches, included plank challenges, long jump, push-ups, speed challenges, throwing a ball for the longest distance, balance and flexibility exercises, and strengthening the forearms and leg muscles. The competition featured three main contests focusing on strength—through throwing a 5 kg ball—speed, via a 50-meter sprint, and endurance, by performing the plank exercise for the longest possible time.

The Fitness Championship is considered one of the sports events open to everyone, as it is held in public parks and represents a fundamental step toward spreading a culture of sports participation within the community. It also provides a valuable opportunity to introduce different types of physical fitness and encourage people to exercise in public parks, benefiting from competitions that help build an athletic body and improve overall health. The championship is held periodically as part of the “365 Days of Activity” program organized by the Sports for All Federation, offering free activities in public parks throughout the year for men, and for women according to specific schedules and designated venues.

The Fitness Championship is one of the key activities on the community sports calendar. Through its regular organization, the Sports for All Federation aims to develop open programs accessible to everyone—men, women, children, and senior citizens—by providing a safe and attractive environment for physical activity. Registration and participation in the fitness competitions are available through the federation’s official application, which facilitates easy access for community members to daily sports activities, particularly those that are simple to organize and practice, such as running races and fitness competitions.

The Executive Director of the Sports for All Federation, Mr. Abdullah Al Dosari, emphasized that the “365 Days of Activity” program—of which the Fitness Championship is a key feature—serves as a comprehensive sports platform that brings together all members of society and represents an open invitation for everyone to take part in exercises suitable for most age groups, from 7 to 65 years old. He noted that the program is one of the main pillars of the federation’s action plan to spread sports culture as widely as possible and contribute to building a physically active society.
