His Excellency Eng. Yasser bin Abdullah Al-Jammal, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Sports and Youth, affirmed that empowering youth and involving them in the formulation and implementation of development policies is a fundamental pillar for achieving sustainable development. He emphasized that Qatar National Vision 2030, along with the resulting National Development Strategy and Population Policy, all highlight that youth represent the human capital upon which the country’s prosperous future is built.

His Excellency delivered these remarks during his opening address at the Qatar Population Day 2025, held on the morning of Monday, October 20, 2025, under the theme: “The Role of Youth in Achieving the Sustainable Development Goals”. The event was organized by the Permanent Population Committee of the National Planning Council, with the attendance of a number of officials, experts, and stakeholders in the fields of population and development.

In his speech, the Undersecretary highlighted the Qatar National Youth Policy, approved by the Council of Ministers in May 2023, noting that it serves as a roadmap for addressing the concerns of the new generation, identifying their priorities and needs, and enhancing their participation in national decision-making processes.

He added that the Ministry of Sports and Youth has launched various high-impact programs and initiatives aimed at developing youth capacities in areas such as entrepreneurship, technology, and international leadership. Among these is a specialized training program designed to prepare young Qataris to represent the State in United Nations meetings and international forums.

His Excellency also pointed out that the Ministry has introduced several initiatives aimed at strengthening national identity, promoting environmental awareness, and encouraging participation in global forums focused on climate change and sustainable development. These initiatives place particular emphasis on inclusivity, ensuring the engagement of all youth segments, including persons with disabilities.

He stressed that these efforts reflect the State’s commitment to preparing a conscious, adaptable generation capable of navigating rapid technological, economic, and social transformations, thereby enabling them to contribute effectively to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

In conclusion, His Excellency Eng. Yasser bin Abdullah Al-Jammal reaffirmed the strong relationship and ongoing cooperation between the Ministry of Sports and Youth and the Permanent Population Committee, expressing his appreciation for those involved in organizing the seminar held alongside Qatar Population Day.
