In partnership with the Ministry of Sports and Youth, community sports reaffirmed their strong presence within the “National Day events” through two races organized by the Qatar Sports for All Federation on Thursday and Friday. The total number of participants reached approximately 542 male and female runners. The first race was open to all categories of men and women and was held on the mountain bike track at Education City, while the second race was dedicated to women and girls and took place at Oxygen Park in Education City. Both races witnessed strong competition across various age groups, whether competing for top positions or aiming simply to complete the race distance.
The first race saw the participation of 391 runners, including 308 males and 83 females. The largest percentage of participants belonged to the age group above 17 years, with a total of 296 men and women, thanks to the race being open to all age categories. Distances of 5 km, 2.5 km, and 10 km were allocated for participants aged 17 and above, while a 2.5 km race was designated for the 7–16 age group. In addition, a special race for young children aged 3 to 6 years over a distance of 800 meters was organized, with the aim of encouraging them to participate in races and engage in various sports activities. Meanwhile, the women- and girls-only race at Oxygen Park recorded the participation of 151 runners, with the highest turnout in the age group above 17 years, numbering 129 participants.
Mr. Abdullah Al-Dosari, Executive Director of the Qatar Sports for All Federation, praised the role played by community sports in Qatar through its commitment to participating in all national occasions, as well as major events hosted by the country. He emphasized that this role stems from national responsibility and the desire to achieve further community sports objectives in Qatar, which now include significant numbers of participants from various age groups and nationalities. Al-Dosari also commended the ongoing coordination and cooperation with Education City, which hosts several sports activities organized by the Federation, such as the weekly “Ladies’ Evening,” in addition to many distinctive races and sporting events. He renewed his invitation to everyone to take part in the activities and events organized by the Qatar Sports for All Federation during the coming period and throughout the calendar of the new year 2026.
Community participation in the National Day Sports for All races represents a reinforcement of the Federation’s efforts to promote sports culture and increase the number of people engaging in physical activity, ultimately making such events and races part of the daily routine of community members.
At their core, these initiatives aim to involve the largest possible number of people in sports activities, while also providing running enthusiasts with opportunities and paving the way for them to participate in major races such as the Dhib Race, the Qatar East-to-West Ultramarathon, the five running challenges across the country (Al Wakrah, Sealine, Fuwairit, Al Zubarah, and Al Khor), the Autumn Race Series, weekly women’s races, and various activities held on different occasions.
