Under the auspices of the Ministry of Sports and Youth, the Doha Youth Summer Camp is being held in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education. The camp is based at Khalifa Secondary School for Boys and hosts over 400 students from elementary, preparatory, and secondary levels. Mr. Khalid Al-Yafai, the camp director, stated that the facilities available at the school during the camp, which runs until August 10, have greatly assisted in providing a variety of programs that combine social, sports, artistic, religious, and cultural activities. These programs include numerous activities that merge learning and entertainment while instilling values.
We offer activities for all age groups, including electronic games, artificial intelligence, virtual reality, mental activities, and activities that introduce heritage, customs, and traditions. There are also introductions to sports such as wrestling, speedball, and football, with the provision of a soapy field in the upcoming period. The camp also includes external trips for learning swimming and aerial games.
He pointed out that the camp includes cultural activities in collaboration with various state agencies to introduce the roles of these ministries in different sectors, such as cybercrime, in accordance with each age group. In addition, values are instilled within religious activities, such as honoring parents, understanding rights and duties, along with daily religious lectures and competitions after the noon prayer on the life of the Prophet, memorization of the Quran, and Hadiths.
Al-Yafai mentioned that students in the elementary stage, aged 6 to 12, are divided into two groups due to the high participation rate from this age group, along with a group for preparatory stage students and a group for secondary stage students.
He affirmed the center’s commitment to providing various activities throughout the year, urging parents to involve their children in different summer centers across the country due to the significant benefits for students’ physical and mental fitness, as well as improving students’ practical skills. The aim is also to help students with exercises that aid in weight loss, practicing them as daily routines.
He said that each student engages in 3 to 4 activities daily, with each program coming from a different ministry to impart diverse knowledge and skills to the students. The activity schedule is changed weekly to add a variety of experiences for the students.
