As part of the remarkable achievements that our country Qatar is making in the sports arena, Dana Ali adds a new and unique accomplishment in the field of boxing in Qatar.

Dana Ali gifted Qatar its first bronze medal in boxing, in the 63 kg weight category, during the Arab Games. This marks the first medal achieved in the history of Qatari women’s boxing. Despite her limited experience, Dana managed to make her mark in her first international appearance.

Expressing her happiness, Dana Ali said, “This is my first experience outside Qatar, and I am extremely delighted and proud of this achievement. I dedicate it to His Excellency Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani, President of the Qatar Olympic Committee, and His Excellency Sheikh Fahad bin Khalid bin Jassim Al Thani, President of the Qatar Boxing Federation, as well as my coach Frank and the entire Qatari people and everyone who helped me get to where I am now. Words cannot express the joy that overwhelms me, especially being the first woman to present Qatar with its first boxing medal. I am honored, and, God willing, I will continue to work towards achieving better results in upcoming competitions.”

On the other hand, the boxing coach who trained Dana expressed great happiness and joy for her bronze medal achievement. He said, “Congratulations to the champion Dana on this achievement, which is the first of its kind for Qatari women’s boxing. I thank His Excellency Sheikh Fahad bin Khalid bin Jassim Al Thani, President of the Qatar Boxing Federation, for his continuous support. Dana possesses excellent qualifications and managed to improve her skills in a short period, proving herself among experienced boxers in the Arab gathering, and this is truly commendable.”

With this historic achievement, Dana Ali’s contribution has increased Qatar’s tally of colored medals to nine (four gold, two silver, and three bronze) during the 15^th Arab Games held in Algeria. Our champion, Bassam Hammouda, secured the first place and the gold medal in the 400m hurdles race. Ahmed Al-Suweidi won the silver medal in the hammer throw competition, and Ashraf Hussein achieved the gold medal in the 400m race. Saif Mohammed won the gold medal in the pole vault, while Muath Ibrahim secured the gold medal in the discus throw. Abdulrahman Abdulqader won the bronze medal in the javelin throw for people with special needs, and Omar Dawood won the bronze medal in the 110m hurdles race. Hamdi Al-Amin won the silver medal in the high jump competition.
