The Ministry of Sports and Youth concluded the Gulf Youth Forum for Developing Youth Leadership in Humanitarian and Development Work yesterday, Wednesday. This year’s forum was held under the slogan “We Assist and Cooperate” and was organized in coordination with the General Secretariat of the Gulf Cooperation Council, in partnership with Qatar Charity. The forum, which lasted for five days, saw the participation of 25 young men and women from various Gulf countries, who engaged in numerous training workshops aimed at enhancing their leadership, developmental, and humanitarian skills.
Mr. Nasser Al-Jabri, the forum’s president, stated that four diverse workshops were conducted throughout the event, combining theoretical and practical elements. These workshops aimed to introduce participants to the legal and financial frameworks of humanitarian and developmental work, as well as to raise their awareness of sustainable development goals and pressing issues in the humanitarian sector. He added that the final workshop focused on practical aspects, including formulating community initiatives and acquiring skills in digital and media marketing for these ideas.
The forum also included field visits dedicated to actual volunteer work, where participants distributed food baskets to workers and families and contributed to beach clean-up campaigns and tree-planting initiatives. The last day featured presentations of youth initiatives and forum outcomes, along with a ceremony honoring participating delegations and partners.
Fostering Youth Talent in Qatar
Mr. Abdul Rahman Al-Hajri, Director of Programs and Community Development at Qatar Charity, emphasized the organization’s commitment to participating in such meaningful forums alongside the Ministry of Sports and Youth. He noted that these gatherings aim to enhance the skills and talents of Qatari youth, cultivate humanitarian and developmental leaders, and promote the value of giving. Al-Hajri observed that the participating youth greatly benefited from the training workshops, which included both theoretical and practical experiences in the field. He highlighted the continuous collaboration with the Ministry to develop the forum further and produce qualified Qatari and Gulf talents, with aspirations to reach an international level.
Youth Empowerment Programs
Mr. Fawaz Al-Mesafri, Director of Youth Affairs at the Ministry of Sports and Youth, stated that such forums contribute to achieving the ministry’s strategy by empowering youth and enhancing their skills and capabilities while raising awareness about pressing issues surrounding youth in various fields. He added that the forum offers Qatari youth the opportunity to learn about successful models in communities similar to Qatar’s. Al-Mesafri expressed deep gratitude to Qatar Charity for its effective partnership and technical support for the forum.
Mr. Fahd Al-Qumai, head of the Saudi delegation, extended thanks to Qatar for organizing the forum and for the warm reception. He emphasized that the Gulf Youth Forum focuses on enhancing youth capabilities in humanitarian and developmental fields and serves as an opportunity for young people to meet, share experiences, and exchange knowledge on various topics.
Gulf Humanitarian Work
Mr. Rashid Al-Naemi from the Qatari delegation expressed happiness in participating in such forums that gather elite youth from the Gulf Cooperation Council to explore humanitarian and developmental work in their countries. He noted that the forum facilitated connections among Gulf youth and an understanding of various humanitarian initiatives. Jassim Al-Harami, a participant from the Emirati delegation, remarked on the significant benefits derived from the activities and lectures during the forum, which provided insights into humanitarian and developmental laws and the process of forming associations comprehensively.
