Under the auspices of the Ministry of Sports and Youth, the Qatar Sports For All Federation, in collaboration with Trails Sports Events, organized the fifth edition of the Theeb Ultra Marathon. The event was held over two days at the scenic Zakreet Beach and attracted 1,500 participants across various categories, including juniors aged 12 to 18, adults aged 18 to 40, and the elite “Alpha Theeb” category.
The competition featured two main stages:
- Mountain Biking: Covering distances of 25 km and 50 km.
- Running Races: Ranging from 50 km, 20 km, 10 km, and 5 km, as well as a 3 km race for juniors (non-competitive) and an 800-meter race for children.
The course started at Zakreet, offering participants a variety of terrain difficulties, from light to medium challenges. Along the route, runners passed significant landmarks such as the East-West/West-East sculpture, Theeb Village, and the Brouq Nature Reserve.
Mr. Abdullah Al-Dosari, Head of Activities and Events at the Qatar Sports For All Federation, highlighted that more than 120 participants across all categories were honored in a special awards ceremony at the conclusion of the marathon. He noted that the collaboration with partners resulted in a unique and unprecedented edition of the race.
Mr. Abdulaziz Al-Abdullah, CEO of Trails Sports Events, emphasized that the success of Theeb Ultra Marathon reflects the continued partnership with the Qatar Sports For All Federation over the past five years.
The event showcased the growing appeal of endurance sports in Qatar, promoting health, fitness, and appreciation for the country’s diverse natural landscapes while solidifying its position as a premier destination for outdoor sporting events.
