The competitions of the “Sports for All” Open Chess Championship concluded. The event was organized through a collaboration between the Qatar Sports for All Federation and the Qatar Chess Federation, with the participation of 200 male and female players of various nationalities. It took place in a vibrant and competitive atmosphere at the Chess Federation’s training center.
The championship was conducted under the rapid chess system (10 minutes + 5 seconds increment per move). Participants were divided into four main groups to assess the abilities of players across different categories, ensuring fairness and equal opportunity in the competition.
The final results saw Praveen Adwith clinch first place, followed by Nasruddin Mowa in second, and Jamal Farhi in third. Hamad Al-Kuwari won the award for Best Qatari Player, while Layan Al-Qassabi earned the award for Best Qatari Female Player.
In the age categories:

Fahad Al-Mansoori shined in the under-20 men’s category,

Ibrahim Al-Janahi received a special award in the under-16 category,

And Mohammed Jarbi was named Best Qatari Player under 12.
At the end of the competition, Mr. Abdullah Al-Dosari, Executive Director of the Qatar Sports for All Federation, along with Mr. Mohammed Al-Mudhahka, President of the Qatar Chess Federation, honored the top three winners with medals and cash prizes. Finalists were also recognized with valuable awards to encourage and motivate them to participate in future championships, and to broaden participation in sports activities across all segments of society.
Mr. Al-Dosari stated that the championship witnessed a good turnout across all age groups, reflecting the continued success of the Federation’s initiatives and the growing appeal of chess as a mental sport that enhances cognitive abilities.
He affirmed the Federation’s ongoing efforts to provide chess players with more opportunities to practice and develop their skills, highlighting that chess is one of the most engaging games for participants.
Mr. Mohammed Al-Mudhahka, President of the Qatar Chess Federation, expressed his satisfaction with the collaboration with the Sports for All Federation. He emphasized that such tournaments play an active role in promoting chess and expanding its player base within Qatari society, especially among the youth. He noted that the tournament was characterized by an exceptional atmosphere, with strong and challenging matches from the very first round, all within a professionally organized setting.
