Al Bidda Park, with its lush green lawns, hosted the third edition of the “Doha Run,” organized and sponsored by the Qatar Sports for All Federation, a partner of the Ministry of Sports and Youth, and held in cooperation with Media One. The race witnessed large and distinctive participation in terms of diversity and attendance, bringing together men, women, and children from all age groups, representing the broad spectrum of community sports that enrich many running events organized, sponsored, or supported by the Qatar Sports for All Federation through fruitful partnerships with various entities.
The latest edition of the Doha Run was held last Friday across three race categories. The first category was designated for adults aged 17 and above, featuring distances of 10 km, 5 km, and 2.5 km. The second category covered a distance of 2.5 km and was dedicated to juniors aged 7 to 16 years. The third and final category was reserved for children aged 3 to 6 years, who competed over a distance of 800 meters. This format for young children has become a regular feature of races organized by the Qatar Sports for All Federation, emphasizing the importance of involving all family members in community sports activities, giving the races a family-oriented character, and encouraging the early integration of young children into community sports to motivate and inspire them to participate and compete in future sporting events.
Following the conclusion of the race—which was marked by enthusiasm, interaction, and a strong competitive spirit among participants who filled the running tracks across the green lawns of Al Bidda Park—the winners in each category were awarded commemorative medals. Participants who successfully completed their race distances were also honored in appreciation of their efforts and commitment to participation, and in encouragement for continued involvement in upcoming sports events, in recognition of their valuable contribution to the success of the Doha Run.
The Doha Run is considered the penultimate running event of the current year, while the “Al Khor Challenge” represents the fifth round of the Qatar Trails Series, which includes the challenges of Sealine, Al Wakrah, Al Zubarah, and Fuwayrit. The Al Khor Challenge will mark the final running event of Sports for All in 2025.
Mr. Abdullah Al Dosari, Executive Director of the Qatar Sports for All Federation, affirmed that the Doha Run, held amid wonderful winter weather and strong qualitative participation, represents a distinctive milestone within the federation’s packed calendar of sports activities and events. He noted that the race also strengthens cooperation with many other active entities that share an interest in community sports. He added that the federation strives to pave the way for establishing further partnerships at various levels to develop and activate community sports and to spread sports culture more widely.
Al Dosari emphasized that new gains are being achieved daily thanks to the expansion of the community sports umbrella, which now encompasses a wide and diverse segment of society. He pointed out that the growth and expansion of sports activities motivate the federation to further strengthen partnerships and diversify activities and races, ensuring the attraction of a larger number of different age groups, contributing to the achievement of community sports objectives, and supporting quality-of-life standards—so that sport becomes an integral part of the daily lives of community members.
