Under the umbrella of the Ministry of Sports and Youth, Barzan Youth Center concluded its summer activities for this year with a ceremony at the Barzan Youth Leadership Academy. His Excellency Sheikh Abdul Aziz bin Abdul Rahman Al Thani, Chairman of Barzan Youth Center, stated during the event—attended by academy graduates, several guests, and parents—that the goal of Barzan Youth Leadership Academy is to build entities focused on leadership. He noted that values and ethics are among the most important pillars of the academy, which was launched last year, in addition to human development and community growth.
He emphasized that the academy’s concept is based on three strategic pillars: execution, skill, and values, affirming that the dream is to graduate leaders who will uplift the community. His Excellency also highlighted Barzan’s efforts through its activities to build a comprehensive cultural community that encompasses a “vision, values, and objectives,” where the vision is an achievement of cultural values led by creativity, teamwork, challenge, and professionalism, with goals aimed at building a community with a strong ethical spirit and a Qatari identity within a complete moral framework.
The Ethical Leader
Regarding Barzan’s new programs, His Excellency Sheikh Abdul Aziz bin Abdul Rahman Al Thani said: “The Ethical Leader” is the latest program at Barzan Youth Center, aimed at advancing Qatar and serving humanity.
Sheikh Abdul Aziz bin Saud Al Thani, Vice Chairman of Barzan Youth Center, mentioned that more than 1,000 young men and women participated in the success of the academy this year. He pointed out that the center organized several activities and events, including leadership programs, reflecting its goal of graduating a promising generation of youth under the slogan “Creativity and Enjoyment.” He added that during the summer break, Barzan offered several programs and activities, some of which were presented exceptionally, such as the Barzan Youth Leadership Academy, held for the second consecutive year. The academy offers a unique model in youth work, including various activities and programs that contribute to youth, intellectual, and cultural renaissance. He added that the center organized awareness events for young people this year, including workshops and lectures addressing negative phenomena to be avoided by sharing stories with educational and ethical meanings, as well as lectures on religious and cultural topics.
His Excellency Sheikh Abdul Aziz bin Saud Al Thani also highlighted that the center provided accurate and comprehensive information about the health and social risks associated with drug use and smoking. This information is presented in ways that are suitable for the adolescent age group to achieve maximum benefit and positive impact. He noted that the activities each year include different schools, such as swimming schools and various sports, based on the belief that sports are one of the most important pillars of Qatar’s National Vision 2030. This belief is based on the importance of creating a strong athletic generation and a healthy society that nurtures the state and supplies it with outstanding youth leaders.
He expressed his gratitude to all the entities that contributed to the success of the academy’s activities at Barzan, including the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs, Qatar Calendar House, and several departments within the Ministry of Interior, including the Juvenile Police, Community Police, and Drug Control, as well as the Amal Center and many other organizations and institutions. Beneficiaries of the center’s summer activities expressed their appreciation for the activities and programs organized by the academy, which enhanced the concept of leadership among youth. They noted that they would always strive to register for the academy’s programs, especially since Barzan Youth Center is one of the youth centers that has been able to offer programs and activities that benefit every young person, refining their personalities and skills.
