Doha:
Aspire’s indoor running track hosted the sixth round of the Sport for All Track Series 2026, organized by the Qatar Sport For All Federation under the umbrella of the Ministry of Sports and Youth, attracting strong participation from men, women, children, and senior citizens in a highly competitive atmosphere that reflected the growing popularity of running events. The competition drew 198 participants, with Qatari runners accounting for 65% of the field. Races were divided into time-based categories according to age: 15 and 30 minutes for adults aged 17 and above, 10 minutes for youth aged 7 to 17, and 5 minutes for children aged 3 to 6. Winners were determined by the highest number of laps completed within the allotted time for each category, creating equal opportunities for participants while encouraging them to maximize their performance, improve their physical fitness, and enhance their running abilities.
Following the conclusion of the open race, the women’s competition got underway, attracting 266 participants, with Qatari women making up approximately 95% of the field. The strong turnout highlighted the growing interest among women and girls in running, reflecting the continued success of the federation’s efforts to encourage female participation in sports. The seventh round of the Sport for All Track Series 2026 is scheduled to take place on August 14.
Abdullah Al-Dosari, Executive Director of the Qatar Sport For All Federation, said that participation in the series continues to grow from one round to the next, with increasing numbers of Qatari male and female runners competing for top positions and posting impressive performances. He noted that this trend reflects the success of the series in reaching a broad segment of running enthusiasts. He added that the sixth round featured intense competition and strong family participation, underscoring the growing public awareness of the importance of running in promoting health and active lifestyles. The indoor Aspire track, he said, provides participants with a climate-controlled environment, making the races an ideal summer sporting destination unaffected by the high outdoor temperatures. Al-Dosari also emphasized that registration remains open for the upcoming rounds through the Sport For All mobile application, giving more participants the opportunity to develop their abilities and continue practicing running throughout the summer.
