Under the umbrella of the Ministry of Sports and Youth, the Qatar Sports for All Federation, in cooperation with the Qatar Triathlon Federation, organized the Aquathon race. The Aquathlon race held at the Hilton Salwa Beach Resort achieved outstanding success through the large and diverse participation of different age groups. The competitions also witnessed the holding of running and swimming races, for both genders. The race stages included three types, namely the speed race, which consists of swimming a distance of 750 meters and running 5 kilometers. And the Olympic race, at a distance of 1.5 km swimming, 10 km running, and the mixed race.

 

Olympic challenge

 

A large number of competitors, more than thirty, participated in the Olympic race category, all of whom completed the race distance. Mustafa Anas took first place, with a total time of 53.12 minutes, Khalifa Al Kubaisi came in second place, ten minutes behind, and Andre Clarke came in third.

 

Speed race

 

In the speed race, Tamim Al-Kuwari took first place, finishing the race in 29:34 minutes. He was followed in second place by Fares Al-Muhannadi, with a time of 33:08 minutes, and Abdullah Shaheen Al-Kaabi came in third place, and he covered the race distance in 36:53 minutes.

 

Mixed distance

 

In the mixed distance race, competitor Ahmed Al Ansari topped the race designated for swimming 250 meters and running one kilometer with a time of 33:24. He was followed in second place by Haitham Osama Abbasi, and third place was taken by Abdullah Rashid Al Suwaidi.

 

Age categories

 

Within the age group from 15 to 17 years, John Isaac McCulling came in first place, while within the age group from 18 to 19 years for men for the Olympic race, Khalifa Al Kubaisi came in first place with a time of 1:03:07 hours, followed by Ahmed Ajlan Al Kuwari in second place. And Muhammad Al-Ajji took third place. As for the 30 to 39 age group, Andre Clarke took first place with a time of 1:04:02, followed by Fahd Al-Muhammad in second place, and Adam Guha in third place.

 

In the age group competitions from 40 to 50 years old for men in the Olympic race, Peter Van Asselt came in first place with a time of 1:16:15 hours, followed in second place by Arnaud Renalt, and Hisham Yousry came in third.

 

All ages

 

In the race for the age group over 50 years, Felipe Revnato came first with a time of 1:20:58, and Mohamed Khalil came in second place. As for the race for the age group from 12 to 14 years, for a distance of 250 meters swimming and 2 kilometers running, the race witnessed the participation of 15 competitors. They all finished the race distance, which was led by Anas Abdul Malik Khalili with a time of 14:06 minutes. Jassim Al Jaber came in second place, and Shaheen Abdullah Al Kaabi came in third place.

 

Women’s challenges

 

In the women’s competition in the first Aquathlon race, Julie Melville took first place in the Olympic race, after completing the race in a time of 1:14:42 hours, followed by Lyndall Jensen in second place, while Lulwa Al Marri came in third, and in the women’s speed race, Nabila Serghini came first after finishing the race in 38:58 minutes, Alia Al-Hamad came in second place, while Eleni Endwiza came in third.

 

As for the women’s age categories, Lulwa Al Marri came first in the 18- to 29-year-old category, Linda Jensen took first place in the 30- to 39-year-old race, and Julie Melville came first in the 40- to 50-year-old race. The girls’ competition, for the age group from 12 to 14 years, saw Alyssa Melville win first place, and Isabelle Beam came in second place.

 

Team competitions

 

As part of the team relay competition, Mustafa Anas, from the Al-Ghariya triathlon team, took first place with a time of 53:12 minutes, and Rashid Khaled Al-Muhannadi, from the “Wave Runners” team, came in second place, and Shaddad Al-Muhannadi came in third place. As for the mixed distance, Karim Demirkol from the Turknos team won first place with a time of 50:29, and Jassim Fakhro from the Al Wakrah team came in second place.
