As part of its annual plan for 2026, the Youth Department at Al Wakrah Sports Club organized a celebration marking International Youth Day, observed on August 12, under the theme “Different Lives… Shared Dreams,” with the participation of young men and women.
The program included a workshop on “Safe Use of Social Media,” delivered by trainer Wael Sameer Mahdi. The workshop addressed key digital risks and prevention measures, including protecting privacy and personal data, combating fraud and cyberbullying, strengthening account security, and verifying information before sharing it.
The celebration also featured a lecture titled “Building Leadership Capabilities among Girls,” delivered by trainer Nora Ali Al Zawadi. The session focused on developing leadership skills, building self-confidence, communication and teamwork, decision-making, and time management.
The program also included interactive activities and a diverse range of sports activities for both groups, aimed at fostering initiative and creativity and encouraging community participation.
Summer Program Concludes
Meanwhile, the Youth Department at Al Wakrah Sports Club concluded its 2026 summer activities, which were held under the titles “Nawaikhtha Summer” for young men, “South Pearl” for girls, as well as “South Fortress Summer”and “South Breezes.” The program concluded following six weeks of diverse activities and programs.
The closing ceremony, held at the club’s indoor hall, featured a speech by Mr. Saad Maqbel Al Marri, Head of the Youth Department, as well as a video presentation highlighting the achievements of the late Father Emir, His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani.
The ceremony also included two awareness lectures titled “An Aware Generation” and “Vacation… A Springboard for Children and a Pathway to Growth… Our Values,” in addition to honoring winners of various competitions and contests.
Al Marri said that this year’s summer program featured more than 30 specialized activities spanning sports, educational, awareness-raising, and recreational fields, as well as programs promoting Qatari culture and identity, developing life skills, and organizing educational visits.
He noted that more than 20 Qatari youth volunteers participated in organizing the activities. He also confirmed that the program, held with the support and supervision of the Department of Youth Centers and Institutions at the Ministry of Sports and Youth, attracted more than 1,000 Qatari and resident participants, marking the largest participation in the department’s history.
The ceremony concluded with the recognition of the top achievers and the presentation of awards to the winners.
