As part of the strategy and vision of the Ministry of Sports and Youth and the directives of the Department of Youth Centers and Entities, Al-Jemailiya Youth Center organized a scouting camp at Dukhan City Beach, with the participation of 26 center members, as part of the center’s commitment to providing integrated youth and awareness programs that combine education, training, and recreation and foster a spirit of responsibility and teamwork among youth. The camp program included a number of diverse activities and lectures, with the program beginning with an introductory lecture on the global scouting movement, covering its origins, beginnings, and development, in addition to introducing the objectives of the scouting movement and its role in developing youth personalities and promoting the values of discipline, self-reliance, teamwork, and community service. A competition on the global scouting movement was also held.
The camp also included an awareness lecture in cooperation with Juvenile Police, delivered by Mr. Saleh Al-Balushi, during which he addressed the most prominent risks and challenges that youth may face, with a focus on bullying, explaining the concept of bullying, its most prominent types and forms, and its psychological and social effects, in addition to the importance of addressing it and reducing its spread through awareness, communication, and seeking assistance when needed. On the practical training side, the program included a first aid and rescue workshop delivered by the center’s swimming instructor, during which participants were introduced to the basic steps and procedures that should be followed when dealing with a person who is drowning or loses consciousness, emphasizing the importance of acting calmly and quickly, seeking specialized assistance, and following the proper procedures to protect the safety of the injured person and the rescuer.
The camp program concluded with a swimming and water activities event, which continued until the end of the program, in an atmosphere that combined enjoyment and benefit and contributed to strengthening the spirit of cooperation and interaction among the participants. The organization of this camp comes as part of Al-Jemailiya Youth Center’s efforts to diversify its youth programs and provide an environment that combines knowledge, awareness, practical skills, sports activities, and recreational activities, thereby contributing to building youth personalities, developing their abilities and skills, and enhancing their positive participation in society. Before this camp, the center organized a trip to Doha Marine Sports Club, where the program included water games such as rowing and some other water activities. Twenty center members participated in this trip accompanied by the center’s supervisors, and the training was supervised by instructors from Doha Water Sports Club.
