The Ministry of Sports and Youth is constantly seeking to empower and qualify Qatari youth to lead youth institutions, with a policy that allows them to demonstrate their competence in management and leadership. Last Saturday night witnessed elections at the Aldana Girls Center to appoint the head of the center and the vice president of the center, according to the election systems in the youth centers. It was opened at 5:00 p.m.

After the Committee of Membership and Elections decided to extend the polling hours by half an hour and gave voters time to exercise their role in choosing their representatives in the management of the youth institution, the Committee of Membership and Elections at the Aldana Center headed by Mrs. Wadha Nasser Al-Jabr, after having received 30 votes from the correct number of votes, 35 members of the General Assembly who participated in the vote while Mrs. Aisha Al-Muhanndi received five votes in the election in which three candidates competed for the post of President and one candidate for the post of Vice-President. The General Assembly won the acclamation, which was voted after the General Assembly was completed, and the elections resulted in the winning of Mrs. Wadha Nasser Al-Jabr, and Mrs. Haya Aid Al- Shammeri as President and Vice President of the AlDana Center.

Mrs. Wadha Al-Jabr, Director of AlDana for Girls, noted that elections were a positive step that contributed to educating young people on the role and importance of elections, in addition to activating the role of the members of the General Assembly in the process of developing the work of the center, preparing the second grade of young leaders at the center and providing the opportunity for young people to choose their representatives in the management of these centers, especially since the Ministry of Sports and Youth pays attention to the youth category, and it works according to its plan to lead youth centers saying that Al-Jabr reflected a situation of maturity among “young people, as well as the integrity that the voting process had experienced in its various stages and I will do my best to be at the level of confidence that voters gave me”.

Al-Jabr asserted that her winning the elections meant more effort and giving to the progress and development of the centers by suggesting new ideas, adopting and supporting talent, and providing all necessary to young people. While Deputy Mrs. Haya Aida Al-Shammeri added that the Ministry of Sports and Youth has taken the election approach and empowering Qatari youth, who has proven highly competent at managing organizations in the state. By the directives of the Ministry of Sports and Youth and within its strategy to support country youth through leadership positions in youth centers, to be actors and participants in formulating strategies and plans that help them achieve their goals and aspirations in youth action.

The state’s goals and plans, activating public associations in youth centers is a real opportunity for democratic practice that gives young people the opportunity to participate, express their opinions, and claim their rights, thereby raising awareness and a sense of social responsibility.
