Al Dhakhira Youth Center officially inaugurated its Digital Fabrication Laboratory (Fab Lab) on Tuesday, 5 May 2026, in the presence of Dr. Ahmed Hamad Al Mohannadi, Member of the Shura Council, and Mr. Ahmed Mohammed Al Harmi, Assistant Undersecretary for Youth Affairs. The event was also attended by Dr. Hassan Lahdan Al Mohannadi, Municipal Council Member; Dr. Abdullah Muqallad Al Marri, Municipal Council Member and Director General of Al Khor Sports Club; Dr. Mohammed Ali Al Mohannadi; Mr. Rashid Al Rahimi, Executive Director of the Qatar Scientific Club; Mr. Abdulrahman Saleh Khamis, Deputy Executive Director of the Qatar Scientific Club; Ms. Haya Jassim Al Kubaisi, Director of Al Majd Girls Center; Ms. Jannah Jassim Al Marri, Director of Al Khor Girls Center; Ms. Sarah Saqr Al Mohannadi, Director of Al Dhakhira Girls Forum; along with a number of officials and individuals interested in youth development and scientific innovation.
The launch of the laboratory comes as part of the Center’s efforts to provide a modern environment that develops young people’s skills in digital design, 3D printing, and advanced technologies, in line with future requirements.
During the event, Mr. Hamad Hassan Al Mohannadi, Chairman of Al Dhakhira Youth Center, stated that the opening of the laboratory represents a significant step that aligns with the goals of Qatar National Vision 2030 and the strategic direction of the Ministry of Sports and Youth. He emphasized that the initiative supports the Center’s mission to develop youth capabilities and channel their talents toward innovation and productive endeavors.
The inauguration ceremony featured a presentation showcasing the laboratory’s capabilities, as well as demonstrations of student projects and youth-led innovations, highlighting the Center’s role in supporting creative talents and nurturing promising ideas.
Mr. Al Mohannadi added that the Center will offer training workshops and practical programs in partnership with specialized organizations to equip young people with the skills needed to transform their ideas into real-world projects that benefit society.
For his part, Engineer Abdulrahman Saleh Khamis, Deputy Executive Director of the Qatar Scientific Club, explained that establishing digital fabrication laboratories in youth centers is part of the Ministry of Sports and Youth’s vision and is being implemented in collaboration with the Qatar Scientific Club. The initiative aims to strengthen the role of youth centers as scientific hubs that foster creativity and innovation while serving as active spaces for discovering and developing young talents in line with future needs.
He noted that the initiative is driven by several strategic objectives, most notably providing a safe and stimulating scientific environment that promotes a culture of exploration and research among young people, while supporting innovative scientific activities and contributing to the wider dissemination of scientific knowledge within society.
Khamis further explained that the Digital Fabrication Laboratory at Al Dhakhira Youth Center expands access to such facilities in Qatar’s northern regions and offers programs and workshops in technology and artificial intelligence. These initiatives help develop the capabilities of youth center members through specialized programs and hands-on activities, with a particular focus on identifying gifted individuals, supporting them, and enabling them to advance their innovative projects.
He emphasized that these efforts are aligned with the objectives of Qatar National Vision 2030, particularly through investment in human capital and the development of a scientifically qualified and innovative generation. They also reflect the commitment of relevant stakeholders to enhancing youth centers by expanding their capabilities and programs to meet the evolving needs and aspirations of young people.
Khamis added that the initiative represents the first phase of a broader Innovation Incubators Project, which will be implemented across several youth centers throughout the country. Future phases will involve the expansion of scientific centers and digital laboratories, with the goal of empowering young people with modern scientific and technological tools.
