Under the umbrella of the Ministry of Sports and Youth, the Youth Committee of Al Arabi Sports Club organized a visit to the 3-2-1 Qatar Olympic and Sports Museum in Doha, involving more than 60 participants from this year’s summer activities. This visit, part of their weekly program to visit state institutions, took place over two days. The 3-2-1 Qatar Olympic and Sports Museum, part of Qatar Museums, is dedicated to showcasing the heritage of sports and its impact worldwide, making it a cultural destination for sports enthusiasts of all ages.
During the visit, participants explored the museum’s collections and toured its seven permanent exhibition halls, which house numerous exhibits documenting some of the most famous moments in the history of global sports. These halls are filled with memorabilia from renowned competitions, significant victories, and international sports icons. The exhibitions include themes such as “The Global History of Sports,” “Hall of Athletes,” “Sports in Qatar,” and the “Activity Zone,” which promotes the importance of leading a healthy and active lifestyle.
The museum’s collections also feature artifacts and memorabilia from world-famous athletes in tennis, football, combat sports, and other disciplines. Additionally, the museum boasts the region’s first public library dedicated to sports, with over 5,000 books in both Arabic and English.
It is worth noting that the 3-2-1 Qatar Olympic and Sports Museum is the first institution of its kind in the Middle East to join 22 other Olympic museums worldwide, forming the network of International Olympic Museums. Designed by Spanish architect Joan Sibina, the museum represents the five interlocking Olympic rings, brightly lit in vibrant colors. The horizontal decorative barriers between the rings stylistically reference Qatar’s history and culture. His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Emir of Qatar, officially inaugurated the 3-2-1 Qatar Olympic and Sports Museum in March 2022, just before the start of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.
