The Youth Department at Al Rayyan Club organized the second Al Rayyan Open Chess Championship in collaboration with the Qatar Chess Federation as part of the summer activities at Al Rayyan Sports Club. The championship saw the participation of 78 players under the supervision of the Youth Affairs Department at the Ministry of Sports and Youth. The first place was claimed by Filipino player Rashard, while his compatriot Troy Aniero took second place. Third place went to Filipino player Roneslon, fourth to his compatriot Agermino, and fifth to fellow Filipino Ryan Mondaza. Syrian Medhat Menani secured the sixth place.

In the Youth Chess Championship, Turki Al-Kuwari won first place, Ibrahim Al-Janahi took second place, and Fahad Al-Mansoori came in third. In the Girls’ Championship, Lujain Ibrahim Al-Fahdawi won first place, and Jawaher Farhan took second.

The conclusion of the 2024 summer activities was also celebrated. Mr. Faisal Al-Hammadi honored the youth and activity supervisors for their accomplishments and the success of the summer program. Faisal Al-Hammadi, Head of the Youth Department at Al Rayyan Club, expressed his gratitude to everyone involved for the championship’s outstanding success and intense competition. He said, “The championship truly lived up to expectations with a notable presence and participation, alongside strong competition and enthusiastic levels from participants until the final round. We have agreed with the Qatar Chess Federation to further develop the championship in the coming years and invite youth centers to participate, so we can see even greater numbers in future tournaments.”
