The first edition of the track race series, organized by the Qatar Sports for All Federation under the umbrella of the Ministry of Sports and Youth, and held at the Aspire indoor track, witnessed a large and remarkable family turnout. Men, women, children, and seniors all participated in a fun, competitive, and sporty atmosphere, with strong attendance across various age groups and more than 150 male and female participants taking part.
The event, which kicked off at 8:30 a.m. on Friday and lasted for an hour, was filled with enjoyable athletic and recreational moments. Families gathered to accompany and encourage their children to participate in the various race categories, which were tailored to suit all age groups:
-
15 to 30 minutes for adults (aged 17 and above)
-
10 minutes for juniors (aged 7 to 17)
-
5 minutes for kids (aged 3 to 6)
This variety aims to allow the largest possible number of participants to take part. The race system is based on the number of laps completed on the track, ensuring fair and inclusive opportunities for all.
At the conclusion of the competition, the top three winners in each category were awarded medals and cash prizes. In addition, all participants who completed the race distances received honorary prizes to encourage them to continue participating in future races and to maintain a consistent sports lifestyle.
The race series consists of four rounds throughout this month — three of which are held at Aspire track on September 5, 12, and 19, while the final round will take place at Oxygen Park at the end of the month, offering participants a unique and refreshing experience.
Abdullah Al-Dosari, Executive Director of the Qatar Sports for All Federation, stated that the increasing turnout for summer activities and the great success of the track races — especially the wide family participation and the presence of diverse age groups — encourages the federation to launch a new series of track races.
He added that the first edition reflects a spirit of challenge and a strong desire to participate and compete, all supported and encouraged by families and friends.
Al-Dosari emphasized that participation is open to everyone, and registration for upcoming races is available through the “Sports for All” app. He encouraged everyone to take part in the remaining races this month by signing up through the app.
He further stressed that the “Sports for All” track race series aims to provide air-conditioned and suitable venues that encourage continuous participation in running events, which are organized regularly throughout the year. These races are designed for all segments of society and reflect the vision and strategic plans of the Ministry of Sports and Youth to promote physical activity and provide diverse and engaging programs that encourage the public to interact positively.
Al-Dosari concluded by saying that the efforts of the Federation have contributed to an increase in the number of people practicing sports, and that these races have become an integral part of many participants’ daily routines. The favorable atmosphere helps them develop their abilities and prepare for future races and marathons.
