With every new morning in Qatar, a fresh sporting event opens its doors to the public across the country. This time, the gathering came within the framework of the “Runners of Tomorrow” Race, organized by the Qatar Sports for All Federation in partnership with the Ministry of Sports and Youth, in cooperation with the Lebanese School in Qatar, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary.
More than 500 male and female runners took part in the race, representing various nationalities and age groups. They responded enthusiastically to the call to revive community sports competition through the event, which was hosted on the green lawns of 5/6 Park on Saturday morning. In addition to the participants, many spectators attended to cheer on and support their children, friends, and loved ones throughout the race.
The participation of the Qatar Sports for All Federation in events that bring together diverse stakeholders and establish meaningful partnerships with community and sports organizations—whether through activities held at sports club facilities, youth centers, or public parks—reflects the federation’s strong community role. This approach reinforces cooperation and coordination with various entities, with the aim of reviving community sports activity, spreading sports culture, and promoting physical activity across society.
The race competition was organized according to time categories based on age groups. Participants aged 17 and abovecompeted within time limits ranging from 15 to 30 minutes, while children and adolescents aged 7 to 16 years were allocated 10 minutes. Children aged 3 to 6 years ran a distance of 800 meters. All participants exerted their utmost effort to complete the race, which aims to encourage physical activity among all segments of society.
The event highlighted the growing collective awareness of the importance of sports and physical activity, and the increasing recognition that exercise has become a necessity—especially in light of the challenges posed by modern lifestyles, reduced physical movement, prolonged screen time, and excessive use of modern technology and social media.
Mr. Abdullah Al-Dosari, Executive Director of the Qatar Sports for All Federation, expressed his confidence that cooperation and coordination with various entities play a major role in developing community sports and delivering the “Sport for All” message to different segments of society. He noted that organizing activities across multiple locations, including sports facilities and public parks, facilitates participation and motivates individuals to engage in sporting events organized or co-organized by the federation in partnership with various stakeholders who contribute to enriching Qatar’s community sports landscape.
The “Runners of Tomorrow” race received widespread praise from participants, who described it as a distinctive event that offers a welcoming family-friendly environment for practicing sports. They emphasized that such events encourage families to actively participate and engage, rather than merely watching their children and others take part in physical activities. Participants also called for organizing similar future editions of the race, especially given the favorable weather conditions and the high standard of organization.
