Al Bidda Park hosted the competitions of the “HSBC” Charity Run, organized in cooperation between the Qatar Sports for All Federation, HSBC Bank, the Qatar Cancer Society, and Altrarunners. The race was held in wonderful winter weather and enjoyed strong attendance, achieving wide participation with 484 male and female runners aged between 17 and 70 years, in addition to senior participants, who added a distinctive character to the event. This reflects the message of Sports for All, which aims to engage all segments of society in physical and sporting activity.
The race atmosphere was marked by enthusiasm and a strong desire to take on the challenge from the very first moments of the start at 7:00 am, as participants competed over two distances—5 km and 10 km. The event was not limited to a competitive aspect only; rather, it took on the form of a community sports carnival, thanks to the large family turnout and positive interaction with the event’s activities. This embodied the objectives of the Qatar Sports for All Federation in promoting an active lifestyle and reinforcing the idea that sport is a choice for every member of the family.
Mr. Abdullah Al-Dosari, Executive Director of the Qatar Sports for All Federation, affirmed the Federation’s commitment to organizing a variety of sports races and events in cooperation with different entities, with the aim of supporting people with special needs and contributing to assisting cancer patients. This stems from the belief in the role of sport in supporting humanitarian and community causes, including donating ticket revenues to the Qatar Cancer Society, in addition to spreading a culture of physical activity among all age groups, with particular attention to children and senior citizens. Al-Dosari explained that through such races and events, the Federation seeks to provide inclusive sports platforms that offer everyone the opportunity to participate in activities within a positive environment that strengthens family bonds and encourages continuity in practicing sport, in line with the Federation’s vision of making sport a way of life in society.
The Executive Director described the “thermometer” of races as moving at an accelerating pace at the start of the new year 2026, considering this a clear indicator of the growing turnout from various segments of society and their eagerness to participate in community sports activities. He noted that the Sports for All race series represents an attractive platform for practicing running and encourages continuity and engagement in more physical and sporting activities throughout the year.
Al-Dosari added that the Sports for All Federation is keen to make these races family gatherings that bring parents and children together in an enjoyable sporting atmosphere, serving as a space to spread the culture of physical activity and strengthen family and social cohesion through sport. He emphasized that registration for upcoming race rounds is open and available through the “Qatar Sports for All” application, making it easier to join and take part in meaningful community sports experiences.
