The Qatar National Sport Day Committee continues to receive applications for participation in the Sports Day Award for the 2026–2027 season. The Committee is monitoring sports events organized by various entities from February 2026 through February 2027 to evaluate them and include eligible activities in the second edition of the Sports Day Award. The Committee has invited all ministries, government entities, and public and private institutions to seize the opportunity to participate in this national initiative and contribute to its objectives of promoting healthy lifestyles in society and strengthening a culture of regular physical activity.
The Qatar National Sport Day Committee announced that it will hold a meeting next Thursday via Microsoft Teams for ministries and public and private entities participating in the second edition of the award. The winners will be announced during a ceremony to be held on February 1, 2027. The Committee renewed its invitation to all ministries, government entities, and institutions to take part in the award, which aims to promote healthy lifestyles in society, encourage positive competition among different segments of the community, and encourage organizations to provide a healthy and active working environment by promoting sports and physical activity. In doing so, the initiative contributes to improving public health and strengthening the sporting spirit within society. Applications are being accepted by email.
The Sports Day Committee emphasized that the award was established in recognition of the efforts made by national institutions supporting community sports and the initiatives they launch to promote public health and spread a culture of physical activity. It also aims to celebrate the contributions of ministries, institutions, and government entities that have made sports a priority and public health a core approach in the workplace, actively contributing to translating the objectives of Qatar National Sport Day into a tangible, active, and effective reality throughout the year.
The Committee explained that one of the participation requirements is to register event details through the Ministry of Sports and Youth’s website. Participations are evaluated within seven days from the beginning of the month following the month in which the event was held. This is intended to reinforce the vision of Qatar National Sport Day of making sports a way of life within society. The Committee also highlighted the importance of promoting sports events through social media platforms using the hashtags #اخترت_الرياضة and #الرياضة_حياة, while tagging the Qatar National Sport Day account. Participants are also required to document their events through photographs and videos, publish them through their organizations’ official accounts, complete the event form available on the Ministry’s website, and provide details including the number of participants.
The Committee stressed the importance of complying with all security and safety requirements at sports events, securing the venues, providing medical teams, and ensuring the safety of all equipment used. It also reiterated that registering event details through the Ministry of Sports and Youth’s website is one of the key participation requirements. Points for the award will be calculated based on four main criteria: the number of events organized, the number of days on which activities were held, the number of participants in those events, and the number of participants from each entity in other events included in the Sports for All calendar.
