In partnership with the Ministry of Sports and Youth, the Qatar Sports for All Federation unveiled details of the seventh edition of the Theeb Ultra Marathon 2026, an international desert race recognized by the International Trail Running Association (ITRA), organized in cooperation with Trails Sports Events Company.

The event will take place on 20–21 November 2026 in Zekreet. A cooperation agreement was signed during a press conference held yesterday at Lusail Sports Hall, attended by Mr. Abdullah Al Dosari, Executive Director of the Qatar Sports for All Federation, and Mr. Abdulaziz Al Abdullah, Executive Director of Trails Sports Events Company.

The Theeb race will be held over two stages. The first stage, on 20 November, will be dedicated to mountain biking competitions and will feature two distances: 25 km and 50 km. The second stage, on 21 November, will include the main running race, a 3 km junior race, and an 800-meter race for children aged 4 to 6 years.

The running competitions will feature distances of 10 km, 25 km, and 50 km for men and women across various categories. The event will also include the “Alpha Theeb” category, designed for participants with advanced endurance capabilities. Competitors in this category will complete a 50 km cycling race on the first day and a running race on the second day.

In addition, the championship introduces the new “Beta Theeb” category, reserved for Qatari participants. This category combines a 25 km cycling race and a 25 km running race and is divided into two age groups: under 40 years and over 40 years.

The event will also feature the newly introduced “Red Theeb” category for children aged 4 to 6 years, consisting of a 3 km cycling race and an 800-meter running race. Meanwhile, the “Blue Theeb” category will cater to children aged 6 to 10 years and 10 to 15 years, featuring 6 km cycling races and 3 km running races.

Mr. Abdullah Al Dosari, Executive Director of the Qatar Sports for All Federation, stated that the Theeb Ultra Marathon has become a highly anticipated annual event for endurance and long-distance racing enthusiasts, offering a unique sporting experience for participants of all ages, including youth, children, and senior citizens from various nationalities.

For his part, Mr. Abdulaziz Al Abdullah, Executive Director of Trails Sports Events Company, emphasized that the continuous support provided by the Ministry of Sports and Youth and the Qatar Sports for All Federation for sporting events, particularly desert challenges and long-distance marathons, over the past seven consecutive years has contributed significantly to the development of running and cycling competitions and strengthened their standing at the local level.
