The Qatar Chess Federation was established pursuant to the Supreme Council for Youth Welfare Decision No. (2) of 1985, which provided for the establishment of a sports federation under the name “Qatar Chess Federation,” comprising existing and future chess clubs in the State of Qatar. The decision stipulated that the Federation shall develop its own bylaws governing its operations and activities, which shall only become effective upon official approval.
Objectives of the Federation:
To promote the game of chess and elevate its technical level in the State of Qatar.
To manage all technical, administrative, and financial aspects of the sport, and act as the sole governing authority for chess in the country.
To organize and supervise local tournaments and competitions, and to prepare national teams for regional and international participation.
To represent the State of Qatar in international chess-related conferences and meetings.
To approve player registrations, and to regulate training and refereeing activities, while upholding international rules and principles of the sport.
To coordinate efforts among affiliated clubs and sports bodies, provide guidance and support, and resolve disputes related to the game.
